I don't think there's anything you can/should do? You could do what she does or maybe just let your marks do the talking for you?

It's not like you can really do anything. Since she is your best friend, can't you talk to her about it? If you don't like what she's doing, why are you her friend?

you can't do anything about this situation. just finish vce and then you won't have to deal with her in class anymore.

She can't just butter up a teacher to make them like her! She has to earn it!! >:(

Well the reality is, she actually can butter up teachers. And it seems she's doing it quite successfully.

I know you mentioned that she gave you a jealous look, but honestly you also sound a bit jealous.

I don't think there's anything you can really do, just know that she will struggle when she has to earn marks without buttering up the teachers in university and beyond. She's only cheating herself, if that helps :). But yeah just concentrate on yourself, because at the end of the day that's all that really matters.

I really don't see how this person is your 'best friend' if you have to complain about her here and can't solve the problem just by talking to her.
And honestly, this really shouldn't be an issue at VCE unless your school's marking of SAC's is suspect; everyone will be graded accordingly, and at most schools, which teacher marks the SAC is independent of who your class teacher is so it doesn't really matter how much she sucks up to her teacher.

Does it matter? Just focus on your VCE.

Hi Ace!

I understand your perspective, but unfortunately, there is not much that you can do about it. While she may be the smartest in your cohort, she seems to have ulterior motives that involve "sucking up" to the teachers as you said. If you feel that confronting her about it would be the best way to solve the issue, then by all means, go ahead. However, the Year 12 students and graduates that have posted have all said that this won't matter once you enter VCE, so why are you concerned? With time, your friend will slowly realise her mistakes, and by the time this has happened, you'll have excelled in your studies,  :). Don't worry - it will all work out in the end.

Just would like to add - it's most likely going to get worse as you get closer to Year 12 / during Year 12. Since VCE is extremely competitive (some people take it way overboard).. I think you need to deal with whatever problems you have with her now, rather than later. You don't need that extra stress during Year 12 :)
