which one is better? i know one offers double whilst the other offers single degrees, but id also be interested in engineering - not something im set one, so maybe through Melbourne i could do it as a breadth subject? if i like it pursue it after my commerce degree? its another 2 years after the 3 for commerce = 5, which is the same as monash double degree similtaneously, what makes each different?

Also what is better-  general commerce at UoM or Monash and another comparison is general commerce at UoM or monash scholarship for commerce  (Scholars Program)

However, as a scholar, you will also receive a $6000 per annum scholarship, and mentoring by senior faculty staff, as well as access to a scholar study room. You will also be eligible to attend guest lectures, workshops and seminars. These additional programs and benefits are your reward for your effort and academic performance. They are designed to enhance your study experience and help you reach your highest potential. (http://www.monash.edu.au/study/coursefinder/course/4419/)

anyone know the difference between a normal study room and scholar study room? and is it really worth trying for the scholars  program or is it another marketing campaign to look better compared to UoM?

Thanks!!  :)

I don't know what you mean by a "normal study room," but I love the scholars room. It's basically just a room, but only the commerce scholars have access to it (plus you get free printing, and the couches are great for napping). Especially in busy times when the libraries and Campus Centre are full, it's good to have a quiet place to study, eat your lunch, nap, etc.

That room is what motivates me to keep my average up every semester. :P

Thanks for the reply, that's sounds good. What I meant by normal study room is just the main study room at the uni.

Is their a reason you chose monash over Melbourne?

There isn't really a "main study room" at uni... not that I know of, anyway. There are private meeting rooms in the libraries but they're often booked out during the busy parts of the semester.

I guess I mainly chose Monash because it's much more convenient for me to get to. I also really liked the atmosphere, the fact that a lot of my friends were coming here, being able to do a double degree, etc. but location was probably one of the biggest factors for me.

Assuming that the commerce scholars room is like the advanced science room (sounds pretty similar from Kuchiki), I gotta say that the study room is what has made this course for me, and has actually been super beneficial during my undergrad - whether it's still beneficial afterwards has yet to be seen, but I doubt doing my degree at Melbourne could outweigh the support and help I've had for even just this year from the common room.

Theres no tangible difference between the 2 b.comms (or any of the b.comms for that matter). You get taught mostly the same material across all the business schools in victoria. Take the 6 grand if you can get into the scholars program (as a student, youll need the extra cash); otherwise go to the most convenient one.
