I think there might have been biology and psychology on the list they showed us on info night. Any other 3/4 I might have forgotten.
Hi folks,
In regards what 3/4 subjects you can do, JMSS allows to do the lot. You can do bio 3/4 and psych 3/4 without 1/2. You can do physics 3/4 if you complete physics unit 2 as your science elective and methods 3/4 if you have completed 1/2 in yr 10. With the humanities jmss generally doesnt care much about completing the 1/2. This means you can do 3/4 geography, history, pe, politics and maybe media in yr 11. Also you can do a 3/4 language in yr 12 given you have completed 1/2 in yr 10. You can also do further maths 3/4 in yr 11.
Also, you should be mindful that the school heavily discourage students in completing 2 3/4s at yr 11 and they only let students to do so if they attain a very high average (above 90s).
The trend in jmss is that a lot of students complete bio 3/4 in yr 11. I think there is about 4 or 5 classes of yr 11 students for 3/4 bio. Good preparation for 3/4 bio is completing cells to systems (has elements of unit 3 bio) and bioinformatics (which is basically unit 4 bio with a natural extension). I personally think that bioinformatics provide better preparation than cells for bio 3/4.
I hope I provided you guys with handy information. Also congratz in getting to jmss. Advice for you peeps to take EVERY opportunity that jmss has to offer if you guys want to make jmss a great experience. I hope I get to see you guys next year. I'll be floating around the school doing random stuff.
