So I've been sitting here for hours today, and hours yesterday trying to figure this out. My teacher has given my class an essay based on the Residential Tenancy Law - BORING. I'm seriously struggling. My teacher pushes us extremely hard so we do well in year 12. I could honestly complete the year 12 final exam easy, my whole class could. He wants at least 2,000 words from this essay, and I could barely get 400. Basically, the sheet says:
...............
"The Residential Tenancies Act 1997 (Vic) was passed by the Victorian Parliament in an attempt to balance the rights and obligations of landlords and tenants."
To what extent does tenancy law balance the rights and obligations of both landlords and tenants? How do tenancy databases affect this relationship?
Include in your essay:
- The main aims of the Residential Tenancies Act 1997 (Vic).
- An analysis of the extent to which these aims are fulfilled.
- The role and jurisdiction of the Residential Tenancies List.
- An examination of a contemporary issue that affects the relationship: tenancy databases.
...............
I have an introduction, but I don't think it's very good because I suck at writing essays. I failed both English exams in year 10 because we had to write essays.
"Within tenancy law, both the landlord and the tenant have their own rights and responsibilities when it comes to renting a property, these rights and responsibilities are listed in the Residential Tenancies Act 1997 (Vic) and the Residential Tenancies Amendment Act 2010 (Vic). Both parties have relatively equally powerful roles, and their rights are quite balanced when it comes to the payment of the rent, how the agreement and condition report are conducted, the discrimination laws, maintenance and repairs of the property, landlord inspections, and ending a tenancy. One thing that does not seem balanced is the amount of responsibility the tenant has with keeping the property’s condition consistent, as they are responsible for themselves and every single person that visits during the tenancy."
I don't know where to start. I wouldn't come here for advice if I wasn't desperate, I feel bad for "cheating", but I seriously can't do this, and legal is one of my subjects next year."
