VCAA Exams

Would anybody be able to provide some insight into which of the past VCAA papers for spesh have been more difficult than others? I've heard that 2013's was quite accessible, and I'd probably prefer to do the easier papers first. Or is it a better idea to just work through the past exams chronologically? Nevetheless, a small indication of levels of difficulty of some would be handy. :) Thanks!

I found most of the VCAA Exams for Spesh are rather "accessible" and are pretty much of the same quality.

I personally think you should do them chronologically, as you will have the knowledge of previous the previous yrs exam when you are doing the next yrs exam in the bag as the people who where actually taking the exam did. And this way you will not miss out on things that they are retesting because they often retest the things that was done poorly by the state. Also, it kinda means the percentage of people that get things right or wrong is also more applicable... kinda... I dunno...

But yeah, that is just my personal preference.

Though I found the 2013 Exam a smidge harder than the rest.  :o

Awesome, thank you :) It's seemingly a bit of a transition going from some of the company created practice exams to VCAA papers. Evidently, I haven't done the 2013 exam yet. The advice of it being a bit easier just came from my teacher, but I guess I probably shouldn't trust her as she thought a SAC with a 45% average was only very slightly challenging...

Now to print me some VCAA fun  :-\

the general trend is that spesh exams have been getting easier though, and a lot of people who did it last year commented on its easiness

Do you reckon they'll compensate this year by making it harder? A harder exam's probably better in my opinion, easier to separate students.

Yeah harder exam would be nice, but honestly I'm not sure. I heard 2012 was considered easy too so ehh... VCAA seems to be trying to make spesh easier for some reason

Really? I did 2006 and 2007 and 2013. 2013 was definitely a lot harder. I think it's just that the cut-off is a lot higher these days because it's becoming more competitive - like more 'smart' people doing Spesh etc but the exam is actually getting a bit harder (well for me, anyway) each year.

Also, psyxwar and RAK how have you been going with VCAA exam 2s? Like do you guys still struggle to do some questions or is it all a breeze? :)

2013 spesh exam I swear wasn't one of the harder ones, although my view is a bit biased because I personally couldn't see a difference in spesh exam 2s in difficulty (which is ironic as I've found Methods exams have gotten a lot harder over the years myself)

They're definitely easier than for Methods. Spesh A+ cutoffs can be ridiculous. Just try exam 1 last year or 2011
2012
Mathematical Methods (50) Chinese SL (45~52)

2013
English Language (50) Chemistry (50) Specialist Mathematics (49~54.9) Physics (49) UMEP Physics (96%) ATAR 99.95

2014-2016: University of Melbourne, Bachelor of Science, Diploma in Mathematical Sciences (Applied Maths)

2017-2018: Master of Science (Applied Mathematics)

2019-2024: PhD, MIT (Applied Mathematics)

Accepting students for VCE tutoring in Maths Methods, Specialist Maths and Physics! (and university maths/physics too) PM for more details

I was looking at A+ cut offs and am now slightly (completely) terrified I'm going to drop 3 grades just with careless errors... Silly VCAA.

I wouldn't say it's a breeze but I can usually do everything. I usually drop a few marks here and there on stupid stuff though
