Just have a couple of questions on how difficult it is to transfer courses within the same uni.

1. If I wanted to do law/commerce at monash but only managed to get commerce, could I, after one year, transfer (or add on) into law so that I would be studying law/commerce having already done one year of commerce?

2. Does the difficulty of transferring equate to the difficulty of getting a particular atar score. For example, to transfer into law, would you need to achieve results at the end of the first year of commerce equivalent to 98.00 atar?

1. Yes.

2. No. It is a different beast, it is like comparing apples and oranges. It's hard to imagine why there would be some mystical relationship that somehow happened to make getting university scores exactly the same process and difficulty as VCE.
