Whole last question was very similar to one from 2006 (sample) exam; just recycled and polished.

I'm about to go crawl in a hole and bury myself under. I just realised that I left everything with two decimal places for that plant question because I was obviously too dumb to realise that a millimeter is a 1/10 of a centimeter. I can't believe I didn't even pick up on it when I checked over!

Please tell me I'm not going to loose all my marks because I did really well on that question, other than my retarded moment.

You'll possibly lose an answer mark for each question you've done it in (looks like two marks to me?), but you might just lose one mark overall. I don't know VCAAs policy on units (we only just solved one dilemma on units half a week ago, actually!)

Hey guys, hope the exam went well!

Just as a note, please reserve this thread for exam related discussion and refrain from asking study score related questions in this thread. I have split the majority of posts regarding study scores into this thread.

If you wish to ask questions relating to study score approximations please head to the Victorian Technical Score Discussion board and post in a relevant already made thread, or make your own.

Thank you!

For the question where you had to find the equations
Of the 2 tangents that intersected, I found the p values
And subbed them in to find the y values. The. I just wrote the
Co-ordinates instead of the tangent equation. How many
Marks would I lose? Also for the tangen line equation
On the last page, I left it in the form
y-y1=m(x-x1) is this okay?

Thanks

In regards to units, for one of the question I carelessly put metres per year instead of metres per hour... would I lose a mark even if the answer is correct?

Yes - your answer is wrong if you have the wrong units.

shouldn't it be m/year anyway?
since dV/dt is 10m^3/year

Hey for question 4d i calculated the z value using .15 as area which gives  z=-1.03643.
I then calculated standerd devition using squareroot(intergral from 0 to 50 of (x-25)^2 * h(x) dx).
then i solved z=(x-25)/standard deviation just caluated for x.
i got 13.7227 for x, have i completely overcomplicated this and will get 0 marks?
cheers

In methods, you NEVER are required to write units. Ever. There are no exceptions. Every question can be answered to full marks without writing units.

The only time you write units is if YOU have changed the units of the answer you are stating, in which case you have changed the magnitude of the answer and must justify it with the appropriate unit of measurement. Like the question "Find the height in cm of the plant to the nearest mm" or whatever it was, unless you converted your answer to mm, you can simply leave it unitless.
