IT Applications Discussion
« on: November 07, 2014, 02:21:31 pm »
How does everyone feel like they went? I feel like it was easier than the previous exams with no 8 or 9 mark questions

Was a bit focused on Efficiency and effectiveness

3 sets of multiple choice answers have been posted:
Spoiler
ADDCCBAADABDDDBDDDBA  <-- FuzzyPanda95
AADCCCAADCBADDBCCCBC   <-- Me
AADCCBAACCBDCDBBCCBB   <-- mrme360

What do IT students do after the exam? Analyse the answers of course:
I looked at the answers posted so far to see if I could get a consensus on the answers. There are only 2 questions (16,20) that none of us agreed on while we had 10!! the same.

Mark Kelly put his answers up, if anyone wants to quickly check their answers here you go
A   A   D   C   C   B   A   A   D   C   B   D   D   D   B   C   C   C   B   B

EDIT: The post-mortem seems to be down, must be a good one

No 8-9 mark question? That's a surprise.

When I did the IT Apps exam in 2012, I found that it was just tiny errors or accidental misinterpretation of questions that got me. Especially in the MC section.

What type of questions were on there this year (if anyone can recall)?

Good luck to all with your results.

They had you draw lots of nice diagrams and tables of the database tables instead of describing them (better that way IMO).

Pretty good exam considering all the study I did was past VCAA, pretty confident with my answers if anyone wishes to clarify @nick (I got the prize at my school :D )

Felt like a pretty easy exam, not sure why it was so easy.

Hey guys,

The exam was a piece of cake!!! In all honesty though, about time. This is what an IT Apps exam should be like.. More emphasis on web and less on the database - back end things which should be left to SD. I'm over the moon, besides the entire state scoring 100%, I don't see an issue lmao :)

Pretty sure the dude at VCE IT is going to be handing out a few schmakos awards haha :)

Cheers :)

I agree, apart from the fact we might say it's easy, compared to past exams (where they threw everyone under the bus on some questions) these questions were reasonable and I didn't find anything I didn't know what they were asking

AM I BREAKING PROTOCOL?

Hahahahaha. oh my god yes. I had the exact same thought. There were a few stupid questions. I didn't really like the last question. Understood it. But I feel that one deserves a schmako.

That exam was a joke. They used broad terms and some bad syntax to ask broad questions. For the past years of the study design they have had positively skewed exam marks and they try to fix this by making it easier? It's going to get marked down even more this year. (Sigh)

They tested about 5% of the study design with total emphasis on design... Nothing on networks. Nothing on RDBMS development. Nothing on excel development. Nothing on malware. We may as well not have done unit 4... There was just too much emphasis on websites and design.

While I appreciate they broke up the questions the state has previously done badly on, for ease of marking. They just didn't get enough spread in the quality of questions they asked and they overly rewarded simple marks.

Agreed 100% on this, I got to the end of the exam and was thinking "where are the rest of the questions"

Don't know how bad the scaling is going to be but if last year is any indication I'm not very excited

Heyy,

We just got caught up in the middle of a VCAA transition process i think, lmao we copped the shit. The easiness of the exam and emphasis on the web dev and such is all in lieu of the incoming 2016 study design revision for ITA. Im feeling like we were used as test rats lol, not assessed on 98.99% of what we learnt this year just to gain a broad assessment of how to "modernise" the ITA course. I couldn't believe it, they had SD card as a method of portable storage lmao!!!! Woo :D Go VCAAAA

Cheers, sorry about the rant :)
