Heyo! This is a friend of GodlyBuddha who got in to EBSS.

First off, there's a Science Reasoning examination. It's easy, if you know the year 9 curriculum, and the basics of the year 10 curriculum, you should be able to run through it without too much trouble. (Study up on things like Pressure, and a tiny bit of biology, those questions tripped me up a bit.)

Next, there's a Mathematics exam, which is your basic year 10 and fundamental year 9 mathematics, if you get an average of 80% on your tests, don't worry, otherwise just study up on the things you've learned so far.

Verbal reasoning, and English Comprehension will also be on the test

EBSS Uses EduTest as their test hoster, so the tests will be under their format.
https://www.edutest.com.au/Edutest/LoginCustomer.asp
You'll have to pay for practice tests, but these help A LOT.

Once again, don't worry about it. I'm year 9 currently, I did the test this year, got 3 superiors, and was offered a spot in Year 11 next year, allowing me to skip Year 10! Like I said, easy. I'm going to JMSS with GodlyBuddha. :P Good luck!

Show interest, and don't forget to practice, practice, and watch anime- I mean, practice.

You take the test in Year 10 since EBSS is a Year 11-12 school :)
Though if you do choose to go to EBSS then be aware of the subjects that they offer since it is pretty 'strict' in what they offer (unless someone from EBSS can confirm otherwise).

Apparently, if you take the test in Year 9 and gain a place. They can make 'special' arrangements for you.

Such as:
- skipping Year 10 and doing Year 11 instead
- spending Year 10 at Uni High and then going on to EBSS in Year 11

You will have to check for yourself though. :)

Does anyone know what happens if you finish the 1/2 units of a subject in year 10, will EBSS allow you to finish that 3/4 in yr 11? Or do you have to re do the units 1/2?

It would be based on individual circumstances but personally I reckon they would since they would have the classes available to allocate people in since they would be a full-school as of next year (plus I know my friend is doing a LOTE 3&4 outside of school as well).. best to speak with EBSS to get the official response on it though since this is just me speculating on EBSS :P

Aha, hey, This is the friend of GodlyBuddha's (I got an account :P)

Yeah, I can confirm that if you do the EBSS exam in year 9 and get good marks, they allow you to either:
A) Skip Year 10 and do 11 and 12 at EBSS,
B) Defer a year, do Year 10 at your current school (Or another) and do 11 and 12 the following year,
C) Do Year 10 at University High (Subject to enrolment, however if your marks were amazing then nope.) And do EBSS the following year.

I know this because I went through the entire process until I changed my mind last minute to go to JMSS =.="
About 9 year nine students got in this year? I think they only have 9 spots as well. xD

Good luck for next year!

These school try not to look for people who have gone to tutoring, the tests are designed so that those people who did tutoring do not have an advantage.
I did not do tutoring and I got in to an equivalent school.
Really, you don't need tutoring if you think you are good enough to try out.

Hey!
I sat the EBBS exam this year and got in! ;D
Alright so, for:

-Science, it's more like science reasoning. It won't be based off textbooks (although some textbook knowledge will help you), rather it will be more like comprehension. You will have to read passages and analyse data and tables to answer the MCQs. I went through year 11 biology, chemistry and a bit of physics as I thought it would help me for the test but turns out it was a waste of time. LMAO - Superior

- Maths, it's basic year 10 maths. I went through Unit 1 of yr 11 methods and that helped me out a lot. If you know your mainstream yr 9 and 10 maths, I guarantee you'll be fine. -Superior

- English, revise on vocabulary and comprehension. Do a a lot of practise comprehension and verbal reasoning tests and you be alright. I am horrible in English (trying to improve haha) and did nothing for it in the test - High Avg BHAHAH

The essay will be based on the following topic:
"Explain your career as a scientist in a research area"
The topic has been the same for the past two years and it's not for edutest to check. The essay is for the school to read and it is not marked.
