ATAR Notes 2014 Meet up this Friday! It's normally a crazy good day and an awesome opportunity to meet all your fellow classmates and the older people who've been staples in the forum for the past couple of years. Never an intimidating environment. Everyone is as awkward as you are for the first little bit, and then the party gets started and discussions on astrophysics begin. (Just kidding, normal conversations begin). Come down; be there, or be square. Every year someone posts the day after the meet up "Damn, sounds like it was so fun, wish I went!".
Don't be that guy.
Date: Friday the 12th of December, 1pm.
Where: Flagstaff Gardens. Super easy to get to, just catch the train to Flagstaff, exit onto William St/LaTrobe St, look around for the gigantic swath of green and collection of awkward looking high-school and uni students, then go there. Check spoiler for map (train station is to the right of the start of the red paint - just outside margin of map):
Who: The most ballin' nerds this side of the equator. All ages/year levels welcome (except probably Year 7. That's a bit far... nah you can come if you're in Year 7... I think...) - even if you're in like your 12th year of uni and you're already 50. S'all good. We're an inclusive tribe. That also means you can brings friends, even if they're not on AN!
Activities: Should be an epic four square tournament. If anyone has Cards Against Humanity, bring it along. If anyone wants to bring a frisbee/soccer ball, that's also cool. Might pump up the ol' synthetic Sherrin and bring it along. I hear Phy124 can kick a 75m drop punt and hit you square in the chest before giving a second effort and receiving it back. Participation in activities is absolutely not required. Normally there's a group playing games and a few other groups that end up chatting together - something for everyone!
Food: Bring some food to chip in. Cookies, lollies, random Korean sweets always make an appearance (no idea how???), etc. I'll probably bring my esky again (really getting sick of carrying that goddamn thing home), so hopefully a slab of soft drink goes on sale in the next few days and I'll grab one before the meet! So, there will be drinks, food, and probably ice cream. Because ice cream is great.
Weather: Looks perfect. Forecast says 26 degrees with some clouds which is probably ideal. The last meet was like 35 degrees and we still had a great day - there's lots of shade and cool trees at the Gardens, so 26 is just a perfect day out I reckon!
Questions/suggestsions, leave 'em below, and see you on Friday!
