Seas at Monash

Are there a limited amount of positions available for students that get into a course through the assistance of seas bonuses?
Or could there potentially be no room for students that get in through seas because all of the positions are filled with those that reached the clearly-in with no assistance

i'm looking to get into commerce at monash, however im relying on seas to help me. with the assistance of seas, the seas calculator says that i will be 2 atar points above the clearly in.

do monash include all the seas bonuses and then rank students or do they let all students who meet the clearly in (w/o seas) and then fill up the remaining spots with those whom reach the clearly in through seas (where there might be a chance where very very few get accepted)

thanks

Hello and congratulations on completing VCE :)

Last year I was also wondering about this as Monash has a 'guaranteed entry' for Science and Arts if you get an ATAR above 75 with certain SEAS categories. I emailed Monash because I was thinking 'what if everyone this year who wants to do science at Monash gets above 75 how can they fit everyone' however the Monash staff who replied to me confirmed that if my ATAR was over 75 I would be guaranteed a position (I still continue to question this).

I can't confirm that you will be able to get in but I can tell you what happened to me.

My top preference was Psyc(Hons) at Monash which had a clearly in of 87.2, I was quite a few points below this however I had two SEAS categories which lead to my Monash adjusted ATAR to being 88.35 (I'm guessing, according to the Monash SEAS calculator) and that allowed me to get into the course.
From what I experienced, I am guessing that your SEAS ATAR is viewed as a normal ATAR by Monash, for example if someone received an 82 (no seas) and someone received an 81 (with 2 SEAS points), that 81 would be viewed as an 83.

I am not 100% sure if that's how it works however without my SEAS I would not have been able to get into my top preference.

Good luck with everything :)

If that's the case (i hope so), would i have a good chance of getting into commerce being 2 atar points above the clearly in?

edit: seas is assisting me a lot (6 atar points). does this matter?

I wish I could tell you that you would be able to get in, I'm just not 100% sure.
It's hard to give a solid answer without knowing everyone's situation.

I had the maximum allocation of SEAS points which allowed me into my course, so I don't think the amount of SEAS points matters. Remember that the point of SEAS is to allow people with disadvantages to get into courses that they otherwise may not be able to get into. So with that information, I feel like your chances are pretty good.

If you're quite worried about it, just email Monash! They're really nice and helpful :)
