you have to apply for it to vcaa and they'll send it to you. its just an additional thing you can do if you're curious about your mark+where you went wrong.
search on google 'statement of marks'  and click the second entry (pdf file) -thats the application form you can send.

Just wondering, how does cohort effect the SS?

A more detailed answer on the calculation of study scores is available here:
http://www.vcaa.vic.edu.au/vce/exams/statisticalmoderation/statmod.html

More or less, your SAC scores themselves don't go into the computer, your rank relative to the rest of your class goes in. Then, the top exam score gotten by someone in your class will be equivalent to the top SAC score (which might not have been achieved by the same person). You always keep your own exam score. The link above is much more comprehensive and I recommend that anyone who is interested in the VCE read it.

Also,
there's like 100 threads related to this...
It's getting there. Haha.

There was an awesome explaination somewhere, and I was going to quote it, but I forgot who posted it/which thread it was in.

Here is my dodgy explanation (better off clicking the links above in my opinion):

Basically, if your cohort is strong (i.e. smash the exams) your SACs would be moderated to suit this. Let's say someone goes to a really poor performing school (bad on exams) but everyone gets really high on the SACs. Come exam time, all the kids in that poor performing cohort screw up their exams. VCAA would then think: "oh that school must've had really easy SACs since they did so bad on the exam but got really high in their internal assessments (SACs)". Like a B+ at Melbourne High School for a particular subject's SAC could mean A+; and the same B+ at (lol I'm sorry I'm going to have to pick a public school to stereotype) Pakenham Secondary College* could actually mean a C. It depends on how you rank in your class and the exam scores that the cohort gets. If you were rank 1 in SACs and getting A+'s, and then get really high on the exam then your SAC mark would still be high to reflect this. It's the process to determine which SACs were easy and which were hard; since everyone does the same exam but different SACs. You keep the score you got on the exam for the relevant GA because they don't need to be moderated further as everyone sits the same exam.

*blame this not me.
