In fact the "correct answer" isn't important. What you write might be factually incorrect but still score full marks because examiners are instructed to award marks to anything that "sounds legit". As long as you back up what you say with some evidence (i.e. some key concept or definition from the bio course) you will get full marks! Sometimes two contradictory answers may be given full marks!

This is a very valid point. Often in biology exams, you will encounter a question that requires you to suggest a explanation. Unless you studied every single scenario, chances are you will have never encountered the problem. These questions are designed for examiners to see if you can apply your biology understanding. Make sure you justify your response/explanation given with relevant content learnt throughout the year.

A phase I experienced during my exam revision SWOTVAC was the 'polishing up phase'. By then, you should have already known most of the content of the year. During this phase, I mainly spent time 'polishing up' my responses by using the vcaa marking scheme. For example, my response of "Because not enough DNA can be extracted" to a question asking why DNA analysis cannot be used to trace very early hominin was circled with "DNA has degraded" being written in red next to it (VCAA response). Although pedantic, I believed it helped me respond to this year's exam more confidently. I hope that helps.

Feel free to message me.

Just going to edit in: Its good to hear different responses to questions and learn from another context not just your school. Notes, other students, lectures etc are good for this. This allows you to learn new approaches to answer questions.
Although this may not be the case for you, i found revising verbally with friends extremely beneficial. Throw them questions, and get them to throw some back to you. Respond to them as fast as possible.
