Chance of getting into Arts/Law

Hi guys,

Just wondering what my chances are of getting any offers for Arts/Law at Monash with an ATAR of 95.75?
And also, if it is low, would placing arts as my first preference give me a higher possibility of getting a scholarship?

Thanks in advance!  :)

Congrats on such a fantastic ATAR!!

Unfortunately, the clear in last year for Arts/Law was around 98 ATAR so you would have only a small chance of getting in. You could still try applying for the course though :)

If you have your heart set on Arts/Law, I suggest applying for Arts then transferring at the end of the year!
Good luck!! :)

Thanks for that!! Yeah I'm thinking of transferring as my best option! :)
Also, will subject bonuses help me a lot? I get an additional 2-3 bonuses which would give me at least 96-96.25?

I'm sure that they will do no harm but you'll still be under the usual clear in. You should still list it as your first preference just in case the demand is lower this year. In my opinion, transferring into Law is usually an easier process than entering with the 98 ATAR. Next year try and aim for like a 78+ average and you will be in with a very competitive chance of making it into Law!!

Good luck with your application!! Hopefully you'll get straight in! :)

I went to a law morning tea like yesterday and I can say the demand is potentially really high this year. The presenter said she hadn't seen so many people before.

I think transferring won't do you any harm, if it happens you don't get in. The way the Arts/Law sequences work is that you don't lose any time or credit for your Arts course \ and will graduate in 5 years like everyone else if you do transfer. It means that instead of half Arts half Law in the first year, you'll be doing all Arts. And in Year 2, you'll be doing all Law (as opposed to half Arts, half Law). Someone double confirm please, just in case I misinterpreted the response.

Good luck, see you around :D

Hey I'm going to jump in and ask the same question: what's the chances of 97.85 getting in first round/or second round? I've got all 5 aggregate points which would take me up to 190.76 or 98.6, but I'm not entirely sure whether that's used in second or first round?? I've got my fingers crossed  but I've heard that it's going to be a much higher clearly in this year due to demand (as a few others here have said) :-/

That's used in second round according to the Student Services Manager I talked to (so quote her, not me :) )

Hi guys, I've also got Law/Arts as my first preference. I've applied for the Monash Guarantee program which allows students from under-represented schools (or financially disadvantaged/Indigenous students) to receive a guaranteed offer into a listed Monash course even if they're below the clearly-in ATAR.
The Monash Guarantee website states that for Law/Arts, you need a minimum of 94.00 (as opposed to the clearly-in of 98.00) and have met the prerequisites and filled all VTAC Scholarship/SEAS applications (I got 96.55 and 43 in English). I just wanted to ask if anyone has any information or personal anecdotes relating to the Monash Guarantee? What are my chances of actually getting a first-round offer via Monash Guarantee? Thanks in advance!

My course had a cut-off of 95.15 or similar, and I achieved a 93.30. Since my course isn't law, I only needed above 90 to qualify for the Monash Guarantee - and thanks to said guarantee, I got a first round offer. Don't worry, I can understand the anxiety of "it says I'm good, but am I actually good??", so just do your best not to worry about it until course offers come out. :)

Thank you! Yeah, that's exactly my feeling at the moment, I guess I just needed a boost of confidence or reassurance :)
