Offer Letters
« on: January 12, 2015, 11:54:52 am »
Does anyone have a rough idea about the Lapse Date of Enrolment for any universities in the past years?
I am interested in Monash, Melbourne and RMIT.
I would like an indication of the due date that I would have to respond by because I will not be in Melbourne when the offer letters are posted.

Thank you!  ;D

I've seen through my varied reading that it's commonly towards the very end of January (if I remember correctly). I've decided upon Monash so I've only been reading there and that's what I've read. You can always have someone accept enrolment on your behalf!

Thanks! None of my relatives live in Melbourne so I'm not sure whether I can find someone to accept on my behalf.

If it's possible, I would really appreciate it if you could post the dates when you find out sometime next week!  :)

According to below is it the 27th of February for Melbourne University. Would advise getting it done well before this if possible though.

If you mean offer lapse date then this is normally a week or two after the offer is made, it's not fixed but you can seek an extension with good reason.

'date advised in your offer letter'

It seems like you'll have a problem there if you can't access it since you're away. Maybe give the university a call?

My offer was emailed and not sent by post, so this may not be an issue for you.

Thanks for your responses Nguyensanity + Stevensmay!

Yes, I'll be very glad if you could let me know of the Enrolment Lapse Date next week :D

Any tips about how and what I should say to the universities? I don't want to come off as arrogant and assuming that I will receive an offer from them but on the other hand, I need to make sure that if I do receive one, I don't pass up the opportunity by not recognising the deadline...

I'm returning to Melbourne around Australia Day and hope that this won't be too late!

Thank you!

I'm sure the universities will be very understanding of your situation, they want you to come to their university anyway! It'll be worth at least trying rather than waiting and regretting :)
