My schools using, Macmilliams... umm so I'm starting to look over a0s1 for psych, I'm a little confused, research methods is chap 1, but the first key knowledge starts at chap 2 in the book, so do i still go over chap 1?  btw i didn't do psych 1/2...

So research methods is covered in unit 1/2 and you need it for 3/4 as well, Macmillian explains research methods pretty well and you don't need to revisit any 1/2 textbooks because its explained from scratch in the textbook. Research methods is assumed to be prior knowledge so i recommend you cover it before school starts. But you are right about AOS 1 starting at chapter 2.

Yes, but you do need research methods for the exam so it is still important.

We used the MacMillan book too. I would say that everything you need for Psych 3/4 is contained in the book. Chapter one contains all the research methods you need to know. Everything else in 1/2 is irrelevant to 3/4.

Hi!

If you have an upcoming sac on AOS 1 like I know some students already have, then focus your attention on that first. But research methods is a crucial and important part of the course and requires a lot more than just reading over the chapter- especially since you didn't do 1+2, and you may need more time to wrap your head around it.

From my experience, at this point in the year, it's not AS important yet. But research methods is a BIG part of the end of year exam and is sometimes what's used to separate the best students from the average ones. As you'll later find out when you do prac exams, VCAA has been increasing the complexity of Section C so it's not enough to just remember the defintion of random sample, stratified sample etc..

So I recommend definitely devoting a lot of effort to research methods.
