vTextbook: download videos, access to the powerpoints

I really don't know where to put this since this is the wrong website, and I'm utterly ignorant of how things work, but suggestions can't hurt anyone :) ...
I think vTextbook could be improved with:
1.  The ability to download the videos, so it's more accessible to people without much bandwidth.
2.  The ability to download/view just the powerpoint presentations - that way you can access anything in them without the time it takes to watch the videos (I'm thinking more HHD, PE, biology, psych style subjects, where the powerpoints are basically a set of notes).
VCE (2014): HHD, Bio, English, T&T, Methods

Uni (2021-24): Bachelor of Nursing @ Monash Clayton

Work: PCA in residential aged care

I agree!
Please make the videos download-able. (unless it's a breach of some copyright law :P)
I can't excess it sometimes when I need it!
It's such a great website :)

Just use a Google Chrome extension to download the videos. It's a simple solution, and doesn't comprimise the time of the AN team.

Just search for "Video Downloader" in the Chrome store.
The GOAL: Attain a RAW study score of 40+ in all my subjects.

Courses I would like to study in order of preference include: Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS), Bachelor of Biomedicine or Bachelor of Science.

2014: Biology [42]
2015: English Language [??] | Chemistry [??] | Physics [??] | Mathematical Methods (CAS) [??] | Specialist Mathematics [??]

Thanks, never knew such a thing existed :) and that's definitely a far better solution!

I completely agree that an option to download videos would be great. Just a quick explanation of the reason why there isn't an option to download is as follows:
> Each video has its own view count, and downloading videos would defeat the purpose this view count. We could assume that 1 download = 1 view, but what if someone downloads a video, falls in love with the presenter and plays the vid 24/7 :P There'd be no way to factor that into the view count.
> The view count is important because when vTextbook has a sponsor, for example Monash University in 2014, proceeds from advertisements are split based on the number of video views (sadly for me Physics is not one of the "popular" subjects :P)
> Our video hosting site has the option to play a short advertisement, like YouTube, before each video. That way our sponsors, again like Monash last year, can play a short promotional video before each vTextbook video is played. Downloading just the video would mean you skip watching the ad!

But yeh, simple things like Ad Block and Video Downloader extensions are ways to get around ads and save your bandwidth :)

And yes, I agree that it's a bit silly that there is no "vTextbook" board to post stuff like this, but it's not for me to decide what deserves a board and what doesn't :P
2012:  Methods [48] Physics [49]
2013:  English [40] (oops) Chemistry [46] Spesh [42] Indo SL [34] Uni Maths: Melb UMEP [4.5] Monash MUEP [just for a bit of fun]
2014:  BAeroEng/BComm
