Are euphemisms and politically correct language categorised as semantic or lexical choices?

I think semantic (should be in the metalanguage list on the study design)

Hey everyone  :)

I was wondering if anyone could give me an example of front focus and end focus?
I'm struggling to get my head around it  :-\

Thanks :)

We did aos2 first, I liked it so much more than aos 1 tbh. I reckon aos 2 is so much easier because it's just all formal, whereas in 1 it's partly informal and partly formal for most texts, so you can't talk as definitely about how language choice affects the overall register etc

Do you have that Green Eng Lang book that has a whole bunch of essay prompts for different topics? Those are really great for essay preparation.

Alternatively you could break things down a little bit more by going over different features/variations of formal language (political correctness, euphemisms, weasel words etc), recalling what their function is in language, how they're used, what values it reflects from the speaker and good examples of each. Recent and interesting examples are a must for a good essay so searching around for these to keep up your sleeve would be a good start

So far weve done 4 sacs (2 for each aos)
Short answer questions on an informal text
Analytical commentary on an informal text
Essay on formal language
Analytical commentary on a formal text

so yeah, we've done quite a few analytical commentaries now

We only do 1 SAC for each AoS and we don't even have an analytical commentary SAC  :-\
