Creative writing in VCE - research thesis question

Hi everyone,

This topic is probably a bit irrelevant to most people here but I would really appreciate your help/ response as it can potentially be beneficial for students doing VCE English in the future. Having completed VCE English in 2010, I believe that the VCE English curriculum doesn't really allow creative writers (students) to flourish due to the assessment criteria and the time constraint in SACs and the final exam. As such, I'm doing a research thesis for the Master of Teaching that focuses on "how teachers impact on the ways that creative writing is and can be taught in VCE English".

My questions for you guys are:
Does your teacher spend a lot of time focusing on teaching/ facilitating creative writing for VCE English? Is there a decrease in the time spent on creative writing during VCE compared to younger year levels?

:) The responses posted here will NOT be published in my thesis without your consent. Your response will allow me to consider whether this is an area that should be researched (i.e. whether it is just me or that it is actually a problem). I would really value your thoughts regarding this  :D

Thank you!
