"We aim to minimise the environmental impact of our operations and have targets and commitments to guide our performance."

This is a classic example of bureaucratese (longwinded, complex sentences with indecipherable words), which is also loaded with nominalisations (parts of speech converted to nouns).

How many nominalisations can you identify above and can you translate the above sentence into an informal and decipherable sentence? What is the effect of using nominalisations?
