I think so (can't know for sure), but it matches my expectation for the subject.
Oh, fair enough. Well, I'll just have to wait it out I guess. :)

First Year Biomed people did your WAM change this morning? I know EDDA marks were released but I don't do EDDA so I'm trying to guess what this new subject might be

Shout out to GENE20001 students (this year's cohort): did your WAMs just change?

(I had this in the wrong thread before...so I moved it)

Nope. My WAM hasn't changed at all from last year yet. Although GENE20001 was the third exam I sat I do expect it to be the first one out, given all they have to do is scan a multiple choice answer sheet.

Just out of curiosity, say in 1st year, you just passed each subject but got H1 and H2A's in 2nd and 3rd year, would you still be able to get a 6.0+ GPA and a WAM that it 80+?

If it's not genetics, then I have no idea what it is!?

does it make a big difference if its 79 as opposed to 80?
WAM wise it doesn't

But GPA wise it kinda does, a 79 gives you a 6.5 while an 80 gives you a 7.0. Which sucks.

But others have been saying first year results aren't as important as second year and third year. Use your 79 as motivation that you can get 80+ for your subjects next semester! And be happy with it, a 79 is awesome!

Fark Rod, you've gotten more H1s in your subjects than I have in my entire degree so far haha
(And you've only had two results released ;))

Well done!
Haha thanks! I had to work my arse off for them though! Started from day 1 really pleasing to see that my hard work has paid off!

Good luck for your upcoming results !!

Yes, especially if you're considering med.

The way the GPA is calculated for med is subjects done in first year are weighted 1/6, second year subjects weighted 2/6, third year subjects weighted 3/6.

Don't let your results in first year dictate the rest of your degree

Yes.
You've seen right through me BasicAcid haha! Thank you both for the reassurance. I regret stepping out of my comfort zone with my breadth subject which consequently lowered my WAM and for choosing physics (the only subject that I absolutely cannot do). I feel so relieved that I can make up for it in the future :)

I don't think Chem is up, I have 2 subjects (computing and bio) and my WAM is the exact average of these two.

Unless my chem mark is the same as my WAM, of course.

Yeah same here, mine is only the average of two subjects I have already received.

Argh well when my WAM plummets down I'll know chemistry is up haha

Thanks for that!
