Arts/Commerce and claiming credit.

I have completed an Arts degree at Deakin and now plan on doing a Commerce degree. I was hoping to do it at UniMelb but unfortunately I did not complete any mathematics units in year 12. So I plan on transferring From Deakin's BCom to UniMelb.

- Does anyone know if I can claim credit for the breadth subjects at UniMelb based on the fact that I've completed an Arts degree?
- How many units must I complete at Deakin before applying for a transfer?
- What marks would I need to ensure I am accepted (current GPA is 6.1/7)

Or can someone direct me to an e-mail that would be helpful?

I'm no expert, but here's a link to the commerce contact page.

I called UniMelb and they said that no matter how many Commerce units you complete at another university, you still must satisfy the mathematics pre-requisite.

Does that sound right?

yeah it does sound right

you have to do certain maths subjects in melbourne comm that you really need methods for because there is calculus in it. you might be able to do some of melbournes masters programs without the mathematics pre-requisite though they are generally more specialised than the undergrad course. im pretty sure that if you fully completed your arts degree at deakin they wont be able to cross credit subjects from that to the commerce degree. so i think if youve already finished a degree im pretty sure that means youve got to start from scratch and its a different ballpark to transferring mid-degree. if you havent yet graduated in arts then yes you probably would be able to get the maximum 8 subjects cross credited but you have to check for each subject. im not 100% sure about this so call up the relevant parties and make sure but im fairly certain this is the case.
