Hey all, hope holidays are going well. Just going to plug the VCE Summer School program for 2016!
Essentially it's a program run in the summer break at UoM (it's still #monashmasterrace tho) where uni students volunteer to teach small classes of (mainly) disadvantaged students in pretty much any VCE subject. I've been involved in the program for 3 years now, and I have found it to be a very enjoyable and rewarding experience, and I can't encourage all the brilliant minds of AN enough to take this as an opportunity to further give back to those who need it.
In terms of class dynamics from my experience, usually less than 10 people per class, and the students are highly motivated to do well because unfortunately their schools might be pretty shit

I've still kept in touch with a few students through the years, and it's a great feeling to see them exceed their goals. Oh, and you also get a free T-shirt, that's the real winner here.
In addition to tutoring roles, there are many additional roles that also need filling to make the program yet another success. All of which would look handy on any CV

Would highly encourage people to suss out the website (
http://umsu.unimelb.edu.au/jump-in/summerschool/volunteer/) and fill in the application!

Applications close Aug 11, so get in quick before you forget!
If you have any questions, I'll be around on AN for a couple of days to answer them
