Question about a prac (mitosis)

Hey guys,
So I recently did a prac on mitosis where we took a tip of a root from garlic and observed the different stages of mitosis under a light microscope. Just one question if anyone can answer.
1. What is the dependent and independent variable in this experiment?

I think we need to information to answer that..
Did you do the experiment twice or anything like that?
Also, what was the specific thing you were trying to test?

Actually, maybe the independent variable is the different cells - everything else is the same, except the different cells/what different phases they are in.  (Independent variable = the thing you change).  It depends on whether you view one cell going live through all the phases, or you take a slide that shows different cells 'stuck' in the different phases.

Really weird, it's not exactly an 'experiment' because what are you testing?  You're purely observing the different stages, with no hypothesis.  That's why we can't find the dependent/independent easily.

Merely my guesses, I don't actually know - give us some more info please!

There isn't really a solid IV and DV. But if you had to bullshit something, I'd go with what bangali_lok is saying. IV is the particular cell you look at and DV is the stage of mitosis.
