Question about double degree and double major

Hi guys,
I was originally interested in doing a Bachelor of Arts and doing a double major in 2 languages, but recently i've been interested in the Bachelor of Arts/Business. I was wondering if it's still possible to fit a double major in arts while doing a single major in business? Thanks for your help!

Double major in Arts is definitely possible! The units you pick each semester for your Art degree would just be one unit per semester for each of your Arts Major, if that makes sense. Arts doesnt have any compulsory first year units as the majors are quite diverse, so you would just do the first year units for whatever major you want to pursue and so forth. If what I said doesnt make sense, let me know and i'll clarify

thanks for your help! i'm now leaning more towards monash  since i'm not sure what i wanna do in the future, would it be better to do a double degree and spend an extra year at uni? rather than just doing a straight arts degree

If you know that you dont want to do something in the 'arts' field then definitely. If you want to go into the commerce field but then have 2 majors from Arts then Business/Arts is a great option.

Some people would say doing a double degree is mainly about keeping your options open, considering most double degrees dont overlap in content so much, which is great if you're unsure of what you want to do.

Just to add - the only difference between a double major (or so I understand it) is that you must be able to fit enough units in to meet the prerequisites for:

1. The major itself (it might require a specific no. of related units, as well as specific units to be completed)
2. The subjects themselves (The specific units may have prerequisites, which may have other prerequisites and so on..)

So, doing a double degree alongside a double major may eat into all your electives (not sure if it's possible to do more than the minimal number of units you need to graduate with the degree), so plan your course map out carefully.
