Is it possible to do 3/4 further without 1/2?

I have a friend who is in Year 12 and wanted to change from biology to further maths...

She failed Year 11 biology and really wants to go into further maths....

The thing is that the stupid teachers won't let her go into further maths because they said that there is a lot to catch up on and that it would be too hard for her...

I find that quite strange since another friend of mine was able to switch from methods to further maths after Term 2 last year...

Is 1/2 general maths necessary for 3/4 further maths?

The answers to your question as to whether its necessary to do 1/2 before undertaking 3/4 is  a big fat NO
I would suggest your friend to drop Bio since she is failing it, and to pick up Further/Legal/Business Man as i know that 1/2 isnt all that important in those particular subjects( anybody know any other subject?)

If the school doesnt let her- advise her to do it by distance..

LOL OMG THAT'S SO FUNNY...You can definitely do further maths without completing units 1+2 general maths.
Like rooboy11 said, if she wants to do further maths and the school doesn't let her then she should do it via distance education. Maybe she could pick up another subject instead, maybe psychology perhaps (or one of the ones mentioned above).

Good luck ^_^

next they'll ask for a year 10 pass in maths for people who want to get into VCAL foundation maths!

[/sarcasm]

further maths is pretty easy, that school really gotta work on changing their policy...
one of my most anti-maths poet friend passed further with ease..... and darn it she didnt even do year 10 maths! (she sat in the class and thats about it! ;D)

you definately dont need to do 1+2 general Maths in order to do Further. If your school is that stubborn, try to get your parents involved (works like a charm) and if they still dont let you, do it by distance. Further, I dont think needs explanations, its pretty straight forward, though if you need help im sure if you post it here, somebody will get back to you.

You could also tell the school that if they're not letting you do it, you'll do it by distance, which costs $500 extra, so I would use that $500 as an excuse. If they're only problem is that you have too much to catch up on *sigh* and you are determined to do it, then im sure they'll let you.. I dont see any reason why they wouldn't.

But im sure getting parents involved would work, had a friend who done spec without 1+2 general maths advanced, and persuaded the school to do spec in yr12 while doing further in yr11 instead of gma.

Well...if people at my school wanted to do 1/2 methods, they had to have a 70% pass in the Year 10 maths and if they wanted to do 1/2 advanced general, they had to have a 75% pass in the YEar 10 "advanced maths"....

my school stinks....

oh yeah...my friend is doing psych (she actually finds this as her second hardest subject) , bus man, HHD, texts and traditions and english as her subjects....

It looks like shes going to be staying in biology...

We had Year 11's in our class who didn't do Units 1 & 2. They seemed to do fine.

HOW MANY TIMES DO I HAVE TO SAY IT... ITS NOT WORKING HARD IT'S WORKING EFFECTIVELY!!
Ok so to get around 44+ you have to work consistently throughout the year (especially in regards to your reference book). It isn't that hard to get trust me, just be careful not to make careless mistakes and you'll be fine ^_^
