Yeah, consistency is the key. I hear people talking about "peaking too early" and all this crap, but there is not meant to be a peak! It's meant to be consistent study. If anything, you're only allowed to have a "trough" (opposite of a peak) near your exam period (only allowed to if you've consistently worked hard enough to get it all before your exams :P).

Further is definitely a subject that u can do without doing units 1/2, I did general math in yr11 and took up further in yr12 and found no problems with it at all, most of the concepts are rather simple and as long as ur careful, u can excel in the subject.

I cant believe this.
i didnt do yr 11 maths at all and i wanted to in yr 12 this year because i needed further to get into almost every course i wanted to but i didnt do it in yr 11 because i didnt even think about what i might have needed in year 12 for some courses. so i ask the head of senior school and they tell me im not allowed to do it because i didnt do it last year. so there goes the  course i wanted. they realy shouldnt be allowed to tell students that.

There are no VCAA pre-requisites at all for Further Maths and your school cannot insist that you not be allowed to do it. Try doing some insisting of your own. Get your parents' support behind you if necessary. Push the issue if it important enough for you.

Agreed. Threaten to leave your school if your attempts don't work - give it some weight by saying that if you can't do Further Maths, you can't do your desired course, so that you have nothing to lose. You are a customer to the school - you come first.

I have a friend who is in Year 12 and wanted to change from biology to further maths...

She failed Year 11 biology and really wants to go into further maths....

The thing is that the stupid teachers won't let her go into further maths because they said that there is a lot to catch up on and that it would be too hard for her...

I find that quite strange since another friend of mine was able to switch from methods to further maths after Term 2 last year...

Is 1/2 general maths necessary for 3/4 further maths?

I did and got a study score of 48.
