i heard that even if you got let's say:

SACs: middle A+
exam 1: low A
exam 2: high A+

the maximum you could get would be a 40, and i heard this from a chemistry teacher/examiner

yeah, you need a minimum of two low A+'s to get 40. so a low A, and a high A+ balances it out.

NOT true. I just posted this same thing on another thread but f#*k it - the pursuit of truth is more important than me looking like a douche. I got 40 in legal studies last year with..
GA1: A (Unit 3 A SAC average)
GA2: A (Unit 4 A SAC average)
GA3: A+ (exam)

I think that's false information.

It would likely to be < 40 or 40 imo but there is theoretically the student can get higher than 40. I think part of it is based on luck in terms of what proportion of A+s in midyear exams also get A+ in endyear, if there is a large degree of change there then one can sneak into the 40s. Also on the difficulty of the exams, eg. a high A+ in exam 2 bears more weight if that exam was difficult and you essentially were one of the few in the state that got that high A+.

Well my teacher said last year someone got a B+ for mid years high A+ for sacs and low A+ for end of year and managed a 40. So surely if you can get a low A in midyears 40+ is not out of the question.

Depends on your ranking in your school, but it's possible to get 40 with a high A+ on the end year.
