Hey Guys, all those wondering about the Monash rule for a minimum of 50 in all 3 section, I gave them a call and the said something along these lines. In past years it was a hurdle requirement, so a 49 in S2 with a 95th percentile and 99 Atar, you still wouldnt get in. But now the rule is still there, but it's not a hurdle, so if you just missed out on a 50 in one section, but still have a pretty decent percentile and great Atar, you can be still considered for an interview/offer. So there is still hope :D
2014: Biology [50] Further [50]
2015: English [ 47] Methods [38>43.3 ] Chemistry [40>43.4 ] Physics [47>48.2 ]
ATAR: 99.75

I hear that the likelihood of that though is the same as getting into university of Melbourne Chancellor scholars program without a 99.90 and a 99.80-85
ATAR: 99.80

What do you mean? What Fusuy is saying is that 50-50-50 isn't a hurdle anymore, so if you got 100%ile but <50 in one section, you have the same chance as someone from last year who received the same percentile but got above 50 for all 3 sections.

Not exactly, but I'm saying in past years even if you got a really high percentile but <50, you would not get a spot. However, for next year admissions it's not so harsh. You can still be considered, if you've got a great Atar and not done too badly in the <50 section (Eg, Getting 30 in S3)

Okay, I'm confused. So then exactly how do they use the UMAT? I always thought it was the aggregate + min. 50 all 3 sections; so with the min. 50 supposedly dropped (or 'less of a hurdle'?), this leaves solely the aggregate.

A lot of hearsay in this thread, best to email them, and post a screenshot of exactly what they say. In the meantime, keep it as #1 pref and hope for the best.

It's just like how uom says it's theoretically 'possible' to get chancellors without 99.90
It's possible, just highly unlikely
ATAR: 99.80
