To anyone who didn't get the score they wanted or make the cut off, don't worry about it. There's always other pathways to get to your desired course and most importantly don't let a number define what your career pathway will be.

don't ever say that

like what has been said, a number will never define you!

the UMAT is just a bs test so they can interview less people. It doesn't indicate if you'd be a good doctor or if you're made for medicine or anything

stay positive! I met a doctor who didn't even get a UMAT percentile (ie. too low) and did the GAMSAT a few times before getting her dream career

everything happens for a reason

Its easier for you to say it, but you did not experience one minute of the amount of work I put into this, only to get 21 percentile. Congrats to all others, I honestly hope you all fulfil your medical dreams, but just remember that you took away mine, but that's alright. Farewell

Hey Cosine!
Don't feel too down buddy...things happen for a good reason :)
Usually when I think of medicine I usually think of 'wow that person must be really smart and hardworking to get into med". I never say "oh that person must have great logic and really know how to solve puzzles." So moral of the story, if you didn't get into med cause of umat don't worry. Through the next couple of years, you can work extremely hard academically and still get into med! Thousands of students sit the Gamsat every year to get in if the whole umat thing didn't work out for them... so u can't say that u r not meant for medicine based on 1 exam..an exam that tests ur logic
I've seen some of your qs on other threads and you seem like a very hard working and intelligent person.. so keep these great qualities you have and just keep swimming!
Wish you the best of luck
If u wanna talk about anything feel free to message me :)

It doesn't mean other peeps didn't put in hard work either. Same happened to me last year, got <20 but am now undertaking biomedicine at monash and every minute of it has been rewarding. Medicine post graduate is a prospect (is for you too) and I'll end up with an extra degree, focus on VCE and your hard work will be rewarded.

It's a horrible feeling. But it isn't the end of the world. There are so many options out there. Take a gap year, do something else. Find your true passion- if it's medicine, then you will find a way to get there! Who cares if you're one year late. In the end, it's not the people who get the highest scores that make the greatest doctors, it's the people who really know themselves and are open-minded.
The UMAT is also a highly psychological test and doesn't necessarily depend on how you feel before the exam, but moreso how you cope with the pressure and curveballs during the exam. It isn't all about intelligence, so don't fret :-)

I've written more extensively on this elsewhere, but doing crappy on the UMAT doesn't equate to being crappy as a doctor or a med student. It just means you were crappy for that test on that day at that time.

Don't give up, there are other unis (eg. JCU), there are other tests (eg. GAMSAT). If you have the passion, you'll get there one day. If you believe medicine is for you, then it is for you.

but just remember that you took away mine

Disappointed for you, but that's not a very nice thing to say. Don't blame them for what happened to you, direct your frustrations to beasting the fuck out of VCE instead.

Sorry to hear that mate. Can't imagine what you're going through at the moment. It does sting.

Unfortunately the UMAT is a test that is very difficult to study for. It does not always measure how good of a doctor you might be. But yeah as other people have said, there are always other options. Sure, you will have to spend some extra years but remember that time flies by pretty quick. Seeing as how you seem to be pretty hard working, I'm sure that you'll defs be able to have a crack at grad med.

If you want more info on your options then feel free to shoot some questions.

Congratulations everyone! Hope you are all really proud of your scores no matter what because the UMAT is really brutal. I wish you all the best with your VCE exams and hope to hear about the courses you all get into at the end of the year!

It's not the end of the world if you didn't get the results you wanted. After all you can still get into post-grad med or if you get 99.90+ you get a guarantee into Melb med. Also you have to remember that almost everyone put hard work into preparing for the UMAT. Keep your head up and be proud that you went through the UMAT because honestly it's a really tough test since it's really hard to prepare for and improve on.

Congrats to everyone that's happy with their score! Also congrats to everyone, regardless of what you got and whether you're happy with it. I know how hard it is to prepare for and sit the UMAT so that in itself is an achievement.

I just had a quick question; my overall score is one less than the sum of my scores for each section? Does anyone know which one will be correct?

Hey, mine overall score is one more than the sum of my scores. You are not the only one. This feels dodgy
