FYI the question is from VCAA (as per a couple of posts ago), and hence has a solution on their website http://www.vcaa.vic.edu.au/Documents/exams/chemistry/chemistry1_assessrep_11.pdf

Out of interest, when did you complete Unit 3 chem content?
Oh, thanks  :D
And .. Uh.. I didn't?

And .. Uh.. I didn't?

I asked because...

Huh.. And why was it that the electron jumped from the nitrogen to the oxygen in particular? Is it the xtreme electronegativity of oxygen?
Thanks  ;D

Maybe have a look at the textbook first hahaha :P Always good to have the basics in the bag first.

Good point  ;D
Although why have a bag if you don't know where you're going?

Just my 2c  ;)

If you're still aspiring to be a doc you need chemistry in the bag for med ahhh  (unless interstate) :P
(otherwise a bag can also help aid transport of the large amounts of textbooks required for that juicy dream atar in your sig ;) - regardless of where you're going )

Just out of interest, how is everyone planning to do the VCAA exams? All in a row or interspersed with company papers?
And how far back can you go for Chem without getting questions irrelevant to the current SD?

2008 onwards seems to be the most relevant. I'm not really focusing on VCAA papers as I've already done all the questions probably multiple times throughout the year and they're quite easy so I just focus on company papers.

Hmmm.. not really, both attempts I dropped 2 marks total :P But maybe that's because I've done heaps of exams already.
Don't worry about your marks too much, just make sure that you learn from them! :) Understand why you got it wrong, and make sure you don't do it again. That's all that really matters.

I know Kilbaha can get pretty ridiculous for maths, but how is it for chem and physics?

Personally I feel that Neap is probably the most difficult, and VCAA fairly easy, except for Unit 3 2011 ... some questions were answered correct by 6% or something !

How many marks did you drop on that VCAA one?

I lost 13 :(

I dropped 5 marks on that one. The ibuprofen MC question and the gas-chromatography question got me :P

That's pretty solid. I did Chem in 2011 and I knew someone who got 67/72 (and 71/72 in the Unit 4 paper) and got a 50.

Whoa  :o

Anyone done QATs 2013? A couple of the questions I thought were dodgy - I didn't bother to give myself a score :P
