Do university degrees have shelf lives?

If so, how do you find out the shelf life of your degree?

If you graduate from your degree, how long does the qualification remain valid?

What about if you don't find a job after you graduate?

How long will it take to make you ineligible for grad programs/jobs etc. using it?

Your eligibility for grad programs expire usually after the first few years of graduating. They vary for each discipline though. Also some graduate jobs have conditions (e.g. not currently employed).

"How do you find out the shelf life?". Well, no-one can take away your dedication and your right to a degree. However, I believe I have mentioned this quite a number of times now in saying that, as more students enter university and get Bachelor Degrees, it will require an extra step to get ahead of the pack (such as a Graduate Diploma or Masters).

Take Information Technology as an example (this is my discipline so I can relate to it), technology keeps changing and every year we see advances, so you would assume that the content you learn in university is somewhat outdated in just a few years. You constantly need to keep training yourself in an IT field for new technologies, concepts and so on.
