What should I study if I can't find a job?

Hi,

If you can't find a job in a field related to your studies after your university studies, generally is it better to do more studying in a field related/similar to your field or study something completely different in another field?

Is it true that if you study something in a field related to your studies (e.g. through a masters) that it could potentially make you "over-qualified" for entry level jobs?

Thanks,
