Does anyone think that a strong correlation exists?

Results are affected by intelligence and exam performance.
So yes.

Not really, kamil is an example.

An example of what?

It depends on subjects. Many rote learning subjects are purely effort based. Subjects such as spesh though are quite limited by actual intelligence though IMO. And from what I've seen, either effort and intelligence can suffice in VCE. There's people who perform terribly on almost all their subjects, but find one they love and get a 50 on it purely based on effort. On the other hand, there's people who put almost no effort into a subject yet get a 50 also (I think dcc is a self-proclaimed example of this regarding his methods score? Correct me if I'm wrong of course).

I'd agree with Lukeperry.  You have intelligent people who aren't able to apply their intelligence due to laziness/lack of a good education, leading to lower ENTERs than they deserve.

nope. vce results dont always match the intelligence level of a person... some people i know who worked extremely hard and got very good marks and they deserved it.

It also depends on what subjects they picked and whether their scores were scaled or not.

Also they could have just been lucky. For example they had studied the write topic for english or they guessed alot of MC correct or they had done questions that were in the exam beforehand or they had studied that particular topic recently and it popped up. Highly unlikely situations but hey they still happen.

i remember for the chem exam there was a multiple choice question which was exactly the same as the one in a STAV exam paper and i got it wrong initially in practice but im sure i got it right in the actual exam.

Depends how you define intelligence :)

Due to personal reasons I can not.

Ask him yourself maybe.
