Hi guys,

For those who got in the Dean's List in first year Biomed at Melb, what kind of average did you guys get then? I got 89.125 and am wondering if I might make it?

Thanks heaps.

You would be really competitive. Can't say for sure if you would make the cut though. Most probably, yes.

You'll have a solid chance for sure at first year.

I had a ~90.5 and was included. I think that may have been scraping in though; a year later I added 3 to that average and it seems like I missed out.

First year is less competitive I think. Adjusting to the new style of learning, the new environment, experimenting with study methods, etc.

Pretty sure they don't look at previous year results.

Clean slate next year.

Clean slate next year.

Is this the case? Cause I think someone mentioned in the general chat thread that they look at your total WAM so far?

Then I missed out with a 93.750 WAM in first year - perhaps a really competitive year. :S My WAM fell this year so I'm not expecting it again.

That's ridiculous  :o

I wish we could find out what the cut-offs were, but I couldn't find an email address to contact.

How many level 1 science subjects did you do last year? There was a bug that if you only did 5 sciences in first year as opposed to 6, you might not have been considered for Dean's. That's why I didn't get it the first time around (then again, my average was only like 90 in first year so it wasn't too surprising)
