It'll totally depend what area you're interested in - I'd definitely try a TAFE pathway. For instance, in the health-scienc-y line (the only one I'm familiar with) you can do certificates/diplomas in nursing; but there'll also be certificates in business or accounting or community services or something. You may find bridging English courses you could do too at TAFE that would get you scores that can enter uni.
I'd definitely research what's available at TAFE and take a 'gap year' from uni - if you work hard in these, pathways can relatively easily get you into uni I believe - plus you've often developed more hands-on skills which straight uni grads never got. As someone who's gone through some TAFE this year, I'd actually recommend it as a gap year between school and uni - I've had (mostly) great experiences, and see absolutely no shame in it.
