Hi Guys,

Could you please give me advice as to how to get over 40 (without scaling) in Japanese? Or how to effectively learn Japanese (grammar points, vocab, etc.)? As well as tips on how to do well in Japanese and stress.

1. Gradual daily practice
2. Implement grammar and vocab into sentences describing your daily life. EG: この本はけっこうおもしろい本なので、ぜひ読んでみてください.
3. Watch funny Japanese dramas and movies. Comedy shows like gaki no tsukai.

In order to get over 40 raw, you have to make sure never to lose any silly mistake marks in assessments as the competition for Japanese is really intense due to the negatively skewed distribution of marks (look up VCAA Japanese grade distribution to see the requirements for A and A+s) When learning vocab, like jibba said, practice daily. A good way to remember vocab however is after learning it to do listening practices and hear them used in conversation to consolidate it.
