I personally got a late offer to melbourne high after being rejected in the first round offer stage.
Do you remember when you got the second-round offer? Was it about a month after the first-round offers, or...?
I know they come out before December the 1st, but I'd like to know the specific date ???

I got the second round offer a few weeks after the first round offers. If you get into your second preference school (e.g. Nossal or Suzanne Cory) and get a principal's discresion, you will have a good chance of getting into Melbourne high via second round offers.

So, around September?

You mean if I got a PD to my second preferred school during the first round of offers?
My second preference was MHS, and my first was NHS… I didn't get a PD to either of the schools.
Did you get a PD to your second preferred school?
Also, did you get any superiors? If so, how many?

Second round offers should be out by late August to early September. I got an offer to Nossal which was my second preference school and a principal's discresion for mhs, my first preference school. Did you get an offer for suzanne cory? If you did, then you have a decent chance at getting into Nossal for second round offers. I only got 1 superior, but I still got into mhs, since I went to a pretty bad school, so it was easier to get in.

I didn't get an offer to any of the schools.
So, both the offers you got were late offers?
And do you think second round offers are pretty likely? i.e how many people do you know got a late offer?
Sorry, I have too many questions about these offers >.<

The offer to Nossal was a first round offer for me, but the offer to mhs was a second round offer. I know quite a few people who got second round offers, so it happens quite often. This is because some people just take the exam to test their abilities. Also, for private school kids sometimes they can't leave their current school because if they do they have to pay back their scholarship. Seeing as you didn't get an offer to any of the schools, it may be unlikely that you get into either mhs or nossal, but you may get a late offer to suzanne cory.

But, if you participate in cocurricular activities, you should consider taking a test and interview for year 10 entry next year. Also, John Monash is another great selective school you should try out for (pretty sure it's about as good as nossal in rankings). There are still more opportunities for you even if you don't get in this year.

Heyy, your prediction turned out to be correct ;)
I got a late offer to Suzanne Cory on the 22nd, just over a week since the initial round of offers. I didn't really expect to get any late offers (especially getting one this early), but I suppose people rarely put down SCHS in their preferences.
We accepted the offer, but we hope it'll get replaced by Nossal or MHS later this year.

UPDATE: got an offer to Nossal around early October.

Thanks so much! But it's only a late offer, anyway ¬.¬
Good luck at MacRob next year!

Went to JAC for about 10 weeks, and did 1 Hendersons mock exam a week prior to the exam.
Did JAC actually help you? Their course was pretty poor imo.
How were your exam scores? :D

JAC was helpful as we did practice tests every week or second week.
Also they gave a mock exam a week before the exam.
Their writing feedback was good too.

For my exam scores, I did pretty okay.
Well better that i expected.
I thought i wasn't even going to get into Macrob!
 :) :)

Hello everyone!
Does anyone know how to solve this problem?

A man cycles at a certain speed, then motors 30 km at three times that speed. Altogether he is travelling 1 hour and 20 minutes. Find his cycling speed.

Any help will be greatly appreciated!
Thanks again!
 :) :)

They did help in terms of practice, but I just found their test questions pretty different to those in the actual exam :P

Their writing feedback was good too.
Agreed :)

Can't help you here, sorry :o dealing with rates/speeds is my weakest area in math
All I know is that speed = distance/time, but I don't think it's that relevant to this question :P
