Yup those are your only units, one for each semester! Things like DipLang or DipArts can come into play after first year, things like BMedSci can come into play after second year :)

You also won't have to make your timetable, you'll find it should be all auto-allocated for you.

Ah that's convenient- so since it's auto-allocated is it not possible to influence a good timetable? :P

Also are there any 1st year ways to prepare for the DipLang (like what clubs or programs can I do)?

Pretty much no way, if you're lucky you can sometimes get a day off (not sure which semester that's in, but it's one of the four semesters in pre-clin years where that can happen haha). Lectures are all recorded so really you only have to be there fore tutes which are in the afternoon :)

I didn't do one, but there are definitely clubs on the various cultures, although they seem to be more about partying than improving language skills haha. Groups like this exist https://www.facebook.com/groups/398086943688700/ but not sure how often they practice etc.

Sweet thanks- so there's no point adding any units on the thing? I'll just click submit!

hey splash-tackle flail, MBBS at monash is one of the very few "privileged" (lol) courses where you have absolutely NO choice in your timetable. everything is allocated by the faculty, and you aren't allowed to change anything. you can think of it as a good thing since you don't have to go through the entire stress of actually allocating subjects like in other courses. in first semester MBBS, they normally give you 1 day off a week if you are fortunate. but otherwise, they should do everything for you and you don't have to do anything in regard to your timetable :)

Congratulations on your offers everyone.

I am currently overseas and will be unable to attend the course information day. Do you think it would be worth it to ask a family member to attend the session? Also, I will be missing the 3 hour session for the biology bridging course, should I be sending an email to [email protected] ? I remember there was a special email for the bridging course that was given on the day of the interview however I don't seem to have that with me.

On a side note, how useful are the Facebook groups (specifically the one for the class of 2020) that were linked by Pi? I don't have a Facebook account (not because I'm antisocial :P I enjoy meeting new people and making new friends) and I'm not sure if it's worth it to create one just for these groups.

Thank you.

Hey intel, I'm in the same boat in not being able to attend the info day, but I emailed them and they said it was completely fine if I didn't go (all the information should be on the MBBS Year 1 website here)

The email for the bio course is [email protected]. They'll add you to the online course (which you can use even if you can't come to the enrolment day).

Yay more meddies! :D

IntelxD, those fb groups (especially the 2020 one, the other groups and pages are less useful depending on your interests) are very useful. You'll miss out on a lot (ie. pretty much all) of academic/social events and announcements if you're not in them and not reading their posts, which isn't ideal! :)
