Are groups on facebook all that helpful for studying? I never succumbed to the pressures of facebook for years...is it time?

Well I'm sure it depends. In my course, I'd miss out on pretty much all the important info and events if I didn't have Facebook. So with that said, it isn't particularly useful for study for me, but definitely useful for other aspects of uni life.

It's nice to know what goes on around the university campus (via the Facebook 'StalkerSpace' groups as an example). Course-specific groups also exist, but in terms of study, I don't think it's that important unless you use it to create a group with peers for a group assignment or something. You can go without it though.

Was pretty essential for me because you need to communicate with lots of different people throughout your course - whether it'd be to ask questions, organise assignments, arrange practise MMIs and what not.

Depends on your cohort and how studious your friends are though.

The Biomed cohort here is pretty tight-knit. We have a select few people who regularly post in the group...but we share a lot of info and resources among each other. Someone posted a pretty big chunk of GAMSAT revision material a month ago - God bless their kind soul.

as well as the social and study group aspects, you can also buy super cheap second hand books on there and sell your own, and that can potentially save you hundreds or thousands of dollars in the long run.
