Double Science Major - Monash Law/Science?

Hi guys,

I am just wondering if there is any feasible way in which to attain a double science major while completing a Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Sciences degree.

Theoretically this could be possible, with the 96 units allotted for science being split 48/48 for each major.

However, while noted that this is able to be done in other courses such as Law(Honours)/Arts, there seem to be compulsory, standalone units in second-year science that would detract from one of the sequences, as per the progression map. Even if the first-semester maths requirement is fulfilled in first year, this would frustratingly leave a person one unit short of a double major as they would still have to complete one of SCI2010 or SCI2015.

Is there anyway, then, to complete this one extra unit, perhaps as an overload or over summer? And does Monash even allow these options?

Thanks very much for your time :)

You cannot do any more units than is required by your degree. If you overload in one semester, then usually you would have to underload in another to balance it out. You are correct that you cannot double major in Science when it forms part of a double degree (assuming the partner degree doesn't have some free elective slots).
