Hmm, from memory my personal speaking pace is about 150 words a minute? So that would mean a 4 minute speech for me is about 600 words - But it depends on your personal pace! ;D

I have 900 words atm  :'( without conclusion. So after my intro, I have a small paragraph (87 words), which is about the context. Should i remove it, to free up some words?

You should probably only remove it if you don't need to discuss context (according to the criteria) ;D

Hi,

For Area of Study: Discovery, my prescribed text is 'The Tempest' by William Shakespeare. I'm a bit stuck finding a related text, just wondering if you have any suggestions, texts that would work really well with 'The Tempest' and it's ideas/themes. Thanks in advance!  :)

Hey! Last year I studied the Tempest and my related texts were the Perks of Being a Wallflower and An Idiot Abroad :) They both worked really well for me (you do need to make sure that your analysis is really strong though as at least the first one is quite popular). You can find my notes on these texts and how they relate specifically to the Tempest, along with my example essay here!  :) Also have a look at this thread , a bunch of other fantastic ideas there too :)

Hi,
We just were given our question for our english half yearly module A exam which is,

How does the study of Looking for Richard contribute to our understanding of the nature of authority in King Richard III?

I'm really struggling to formulate arguments based on my chosen values of power and morality I have already analysed and recieved good feedback for in my practice draft for a different essay question. Should I redo my values and analysis, or could I twist my arguments? If so how could I make these values fit the question? Thankyou so much :)

Hey guys, how well-known should your related texts be for Module C? For People and Landscapes, my related text is an Aboriginal poem, I just found it on a website, and the guy isn't really well known but the poem fits so so well with my prescribed so I don't want to change it hahaha

Hey Steph! Definitely doesn't need to be a well known text - So if you think it is perfect you should go for it! ;D

Hey Annie! I reckon you could twist your arguments. For example - Power is how people exercise authority, so that should fit. Then you could talk about the morality of authority figures (if your arguments match it). Normally I'd say that you should try and write brand new arguments, but these actually seem to fit reasonably well! ;D

My speech I believe was just shy of a thousand words and was within 4 minutes or so. The easiest way to make sure is to just say it aloud and time it. Keep the time under 4 and you'll be right. They usually give you 10-20 seconds extra if you need it.

That must be a common question or something. My half yearly Mod A essay question is "How does a study of Looking for Richard contribute to our understanding of authority in King Richard III?

I would talk about the parallels you can draw that relate to authority. In my essay I wrote about Power and Conscience. Talk about how Richard resembles a machiavelli villain or his duplicity nature. You can also explore how Power has changed over time. How a postmodern interpretation of power is different to the Elizabethan Era's interpretation. How Pacino shows us today's interpretation of power or something similar.

Just a few ideas I incorporated into my essay :)

Goodluck fellow student~!

Hey everyone, i have a similar question about word count for my mod A speech... I'd like to keep my word count at about 1000 max and was wondering how long a solid, concise intro should go for? I'm currently looking at about 150 words, thanks:)

Hey Corey!! Just had a quick reference to my Module A exemplar essay in the Notes section - My word count was 1045, and my intro was 139 words, so I reckon that is about right! ;D
