Hey, I have a speech due Wednesday on people and landscapes and I've been trying to write it for ages but keep going around in circles. I don't know how many and which ideas to pick, how long my analysis on each point should be and how to structure the body. At the moment I just have an introduction a and a bunch of incomplete paragraphs because I keep either changing my mind or hitting a road block in terms of analysis, what should I do?
HSC 2017: Advanced English [85] General Maths [92] Biology [96] Geography [92] Drama [86]

2018: Bachelor of Arts and Advanced Studies at University of Sydney

-- need a tutor for any of the subjects listed above?? I reckon I'm the girl! Just message me on ATAR notes or here--

Hey!! You should read this guide on Module C to get yourself in the zone a bit for what an essay should include. Check for exemplars in the Notes section. Beyond that, you just need to bite the bullet! Plan your response, the quotes you use and the ideas you have, and set a cap - "Right, at 5pm, the plan I have is the plan I use." You aren't aiming for perfection here, so you need to know when to call it and just start writing and memorising the thing - Because you'll need a few days at least to do that properly! :)

Chances are your incomplete paragraphs are totally fine, just work with them! There will always be things to improve but that is okay, just make it as good as you can with the time you have :)

My trial feedback advised me to get a new related text for discovery, my AOS is life of Pi. Does anyone have any suggestions of a good related text if can use? Preferably not a novel as i dont have enough time to read through a book.

Obviously get as much of the stimulus written down as possible. If ideas important to your essay come up, don't write them down word for word, just ideas, abbreviate etc so you get as much down as possible. Remember you will need some full quotes for evidence. Someone else will give better advice, hope this helps. Good luck!

Actually prickles I wouldn't add much! Yep, just make sure you have quotes from Othello to back up any arguments you might need to make. Perhaps ask your teacher for some sort of practice task to use for preparation, maybe one from a previous year? :)

my brother needs an audio-visual related text for mod C for an assessment - what are your suggestions? He was thinking house of cards, but hasn't watched much, and it would be too much to do before the assessment.

he needs an episode. please send help - perscribed is BNW so one on control and manipulation is good. thankyou

I haven't watched Shawshank Redemption (:o), so I may not be able to help there. Don't forget that we can look on the other spectrum of freedom (the lack thereof).

There are a lot of techniques I found that may interest you:

Juxtaposition and lighting between the inner and outer world.
We are shown the contrast between the dull and sombre room and the vibrant outside world throughout the short film. This conveys a demoralised psyche in the eyes of a robot used merely as a tool. Talk about (the lack of) freedom in that regard, and how that may relate to Shawshank Redemption.

Use of non-diegetic music, and the lack thereof.
You can discuss how the use of non-diegetic music heightens how we view the robot. Remember that this is mainly viewed in the eyes of the robot. Talk about the cuts between non-diegetic music portrays the lack of freedom through the perspectives of this robot.

The light is used as a symbol for such desires of freedom.
You can also discuss how the robot's light (as one of two sources of lighting) is used as a symbol to discuss the eventual doom when we desire for such freedom.

For an AOS essay, is it ok to write 2 paragraphs on PT and 1 on your RT if you run out of time?

I was wondering if someone could give me feedback on this sentence in regards to whether or not I successfully identified a valid attitude and perspective.
In ‘The book thief’ Zusak’s disapproving and critical attitude towards use of the fear as a means of control by the government underpins the Author’s perspective that while humanity has the capability to perform the greatest good people are often thwarted by the fear of punishment

In the film https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pStsRGrGywE, Is the bird a motif and does it symbolise freedom?
Hi!

I wouldn't say that it is a "motif", but certainly it does symbolise the desire for freedom from the individual.
"Thereof" simply refers to the subject beforehand, so freedom (or lack thereof) simply refers to the "lack of freedom".
