Hey guys, I'm in yr 12 atm, and plan on doing CS, at Monash next year (hopefully). Of those who are doing it right now, can you tell me a bit about it? Like what languages you use, how many classes a week, etc.
Thanks in Advance.

Took a glance here: http://monash.edu.au/pubs/handbooks/courses/C2001.html

It seems that you learn Python and Prolog in the 'foundational computer science study' part of the degree (1st and 2nd year). Note that the course places a greater emphasis on understanding algorithms, programming concepts and computers generally - specific programming languages come later, and IMO it is the right approach.

Then there are electives you can take as long as it fits within your course map - http://monash.edu.au/pubs/2016handbooks/units/index-byfaculty-it.html. There is a specific first year C++ introductory unit, for example. It all depends on what you want to do - I recommend reading through the course structure and available electives, then planning out your course map. Send a query to ask.monash if you are unsure.

You generally choose 4 units a semester, and each unit will have it's own number of contact hours a week. For example, FIT1045 (an introductory unit) has six hours a week, comprising:

(a.) Contact hours for on-campus students:

Two hours lectures
Two hours laboratories
Two hours tutorials

So all you have to do is search through the four units you would be doing per semester and add those up.

Cheers
