How do you guys get motivated? Like, I'm desperate to do well in the HSC, I can only do 2-3 hours of work a day and then I just procrastinate the rest of the day... no matter what I do!! What are actually applicable tips for not procrastinating?
Hey Lauradf36! Jake wrote an article on the
common forms of procrastination which might be worth a read for you

Motivation is a really tough thing, because everyone will draw motivation from different places. For me, I was motivated by my ATAR goals (as high as I could before September, 96+ after September), and my girlfriend, because she studied a lot and so I pretty much had to as well

it is up to you to find what motivates you. An ATAR goal? Need to beat a sibling or an annoying school friend?
The fact is, you are nearly there! The few hours a day you put in now will be so worth it in the long run

I have two tips: One, stick to a timetable!! Having a timetable of when/what you are studying is much less likely to result in procrastination than just winging it. I wrote an article on developing a timetable
here!
As well as this,
remove the sources of your procrastination! On FB a lot? Get a website blocker. Tempted by television shows? Unplug it, make it harder for yourself to remove yourself from the work. Turn off notifications on your phone, etc etc. If you remove your sources of distraction, you'll be less likely to procrastinate.
Oh, and
take breaks! Go for a run or have a quick nap or clean up the house or read a book, or whatever. Give your brain frequent breaks to recharge. If you treat your brain well, you can get more hours out of it!
