What did you do after your B.Sci?

Hi,

I'm currently completing a Bachelor of Science at Melb uni and i'm interested in seeing/learning about the different opportunities this degree may give me. I'm just wondering for those who completed a general science degree (any university), what did you major in and what did you do after your degree? Honours? Post Grad? Further study in a completely different area? Straight into the work field? All answers welcome.

thanks for the response! That sounds pretty good :) Good luck!

I guess to tag onto the first question would you (or anyone else) know if it is a common thing from science students (and I guess other generalist degrees) to work in fields unrelated to their degrees after they've graduated?

It's fairly common, especially if you don't do any further study. Not enough science jobs for all the BSc grads.

If you're interested in research, at least do Honours.

I did Honours last year, PhD this year. Feel free to ask about it/the process of applying.
BSc (Hons) 2015 Melbourne

PhD 2016-??? Melbourne

I want to be an architect.

Yeah i've heard thats the case. Thanks for the offer- still undecided about where i'm going with the degree, but am definitely considering honours.
Good luck with the PhD!

Hey I'm also finishing my BSc in Melbourne uni this year too! ;D

After I finish I'm planning to do Masters part time, I'm really keen for scientific research in the future. Also the main reason why I'm changing from full-time to part-time is that I love my tutoring job and like to build up Nerd of Passion too, and doing part-time studies will give me more time for that.

I mainly teach mathematics and physics, so you can say I'm doing something pretty relevant to what I'm learning in uni :P
Graduated from high school in 2012 with atar of 99.55.

Currently doing MSc in Physics at UoM researching on Quantum Computers.

Offering group lessons for Unit 3/4 VCE Methods and Physics for 2017!

Selling awesome and in-depth study notes for Unit 3 Physics, PM me if interested! :D

I'm also planning to do a BSc (in NSW- probably Macquarie) this year and then transfer over to B Psych to do my honours degree. It is possible to get into other science courses with minimal time and get another degree behind you without an extra 3-4 years. Post grad (Masters, Doctorates) are also an option
(Psych requires a masters degree to become a registered psychologist)
So many options!! My advice, attend uni open days and contact other people who have done different kinds of study, see what they suggest.

(Not really experienced in the field so just take this with a pinch truckload of salt)
