Melbourne High 2017 Entrance Interview

Hi,
I am currently in year 9 and tried out for Melbourne high school for year 10 entrance. Today I got an invitation for an interview at MHS. All the information that i got was that we will be put in groups of six and then finishing off with a ten minute one on one interview with one of the principals. I was just wondering if any people from the past who have tried out for the school and gotten into the interview can give me a heads up how the interview is going to go and what types of questions are asked. (Especially the one on one interview)

MHS Principal's discretion? There'll be quite a few other students there. You'll go into this room where you'll initially do group activities. iirc this was to show the ability to work together with others and lead or voice your opinions. For the one-on-one interview I think it depended a bit on what you had on your application form.
For mine they asked about sports and all that. Eg. they asked my favourite cricketer and why, but remember the why is the most important part!  You should try highlight your values through that person and there's a reason why they ask that question  !

Remember to highlight yourself in the group activities, and also promote yourself to an extent in the one-on-one. It's what I failed to do    ! Also careful with memorising any answers- sometimes when you try to remember answers you look elsewhere, and it's kinda obvious.

It was emailed to me
I play tennis at a high level past state
My interview is next week

I got in through yr10 interview process. Just be as confident as possible because what they're looking for is well rounded people that'll improve the school. There's nothing right or wrong you can say but sell yourself and highlight all your strengths. Good luck mate hopefully will see you next year.

They will ask u about a topic that is relevant today, from the top of my head, our topic was something on Olympics.
They will then split u into groups of 3, where u solve a problem, shit was hard as man. FeelsBadMan

It might be a day late but most likely if u haven't received an email, you didn't get in

Sure thing, they change this every year i assume, but when i did it, the task involved critical thinking and working as a team, if u tick those criteria off, you should be good. So the task itself, there were small triangles that was cut from a A4 ' square' paper, as a team you have to try to essentially make it back into it a square, much like a jig-saw. The examiners will be keeping a close eye on how u decide to work out this problem and how u work as a collective unit. If you cant solve it, dw coz i ddint ahah GL!
