Paper 2 was very specific, I found.

Module A - I enjoyed because it gave me specific quotes from The Great Gatsby and Sonnets from the Portuguese which added to my general essay and made it longer (woohoo!!!)

Module B - I liked the question for Citizen Kane. Welle's use of ominous settings and images was the general gist for the question. I was sort of happy with this one because you could talk about film noir, chiaroscuro, film techniques as well as character development in regards to images (Kane - with Rosebud and the snowglobe)

Module C - I really need to say this. I hate The Art of Travel. But overall the question was okay. Something about a landscape reminds you about the past... blah blah blah.

Overall, I enjoyed Paper 2 but I feel I did better in Paper 1 but still... I had the hospitality paper afterwards and finished at four but overall I'm happy with both

Did TGG & Sonnets for Module A and it was amazing! The specified texts (particularly the TGG one) fitted right with my essay because I used the quote "they drifted here and there...wherever people were rich together" :D

Module B was a bit iffy for me, it was actually my trial question

Module C was alright

module A, John Donne & W;t, fit exactly to imo the band 6 worthy essay I had done yesterday, just needed very slight adaptation.

module B, did not expect or want Lessing, question was really poor imo and they could've easily specified Atwood instead saving the essays of a large percentage of students across the state. Did Atwood, Lessing, Sadat paragraphs. Did a 3rd speech because of time constraints and all my knowledge of lessing was through cramming last minute notes at 1 am and literally right before the exam, so I thought instead of 4 paragraphs I can do 3 paragraphs instead. Didn't want my extensive preparation for Sadat and Keating to COMPLETELY go to waste.

Honestly, this was really disappointing, I feel like they should at least specify only the older speeches. Their is hardly any enduring value in Doris Lessing, her speech is 9 fucking years old and not nearly as momentous as Keating, Sadat, Atwood and Pearsons. The fact that extensive preparation that you do goes to complete waste just shows a flawed system imo but whatever, think I can get at least a 16.

Module C was pretty straight forward.

I just hope my sentence structure and the cohesiveness/clearness of my essays wasnt affected by stress and lack of sleep (I couldnt sleep for shit! went to bed already late and I must've gotten 3 hours in total, if that.)

The Hollow Men. THE HOLLOW MEN. And fragmentation??? wtf even was module B T.S. Eliot what a mess.

Module C however was a god send for people power and politics (Wag the Dog), ended up writing 9 pages.

Module A Pride and Prejudice/Letters to Alice was meh, pretty stupid them giving us those random quotes to integrate, but the question wasn't itself that bad. Better than a few previous years.

Hey, i do the exact same texts.
GEESH NINE PAGES!!! HOW DID U HAVE THE TIME???

Not that this is any help now, but my teacher explained that the men's lack of indecision condemned the to a place of ""alienation."" Whilst """fragmented""... well thats open to interpretation. Its a sort of weird word tbh.

Hey! Conclusions are important, but not having time for one won't necessarily damage your mark. Either way, at this point it really isn't something to worry about; forget about the exam, have a break, and then focus on your upcoming assessments!

How badly can making slight errors in quotes affect your mark? it didn't change the technique or meaning, misplaced the order of some words once and once used a synonym (because I thought it was the right one, even crossed out the actual correct one)

power of lack of sleep due to stress  :P

I did Module C first, and it basically the same as an old response that I had memorised, so I was able to get through it pretty quickly :) I also knew that this one was going to have to bring up my module b mark, because as soon as I read the question I knew I'd struggle, so I allowed myself a little bit more time with this one (like 5 extra minutes). With Module B It wasn't really the alienation part that got me, moreso the fragmentation part :( I didn't know the Hollow Men very well to begin with, so I felt like the question was essentially asking us to analyse the use of a very specific technique within a very specific poem and how it elicited a very specific response :/ But ah well, I was expecting one of the questions to be a shocker so I'm not that upset, just glad the other two questions went okay :)

Kind of similar with the whole not really knowing/studying the hollow men haha
i just mad some stuff about how the persona was alienated from religion (spirituality) and how he was alientated from society thus he saw society as'the dead land, the cactus land'. I have absolutely no idea if it works or not however haha rip mod b

Pretty much the same, one of the only things I remembered was that in hollow men there was a lot of avoiding eye contact, so I mentioned that. The only bit about fragmentation though that I really understood was the bit with bible verses interrupting the rest of the stanza. I think for the alienated stuff I'll be fine because I was able to at least justify that well with my other two poems (Prufrock and Rhapsody). The fragmentation stuff though ... yikes!

Excuse me if I am wrong, but is this not the very thing BOSTES is trying to steer away from?? BOSTES realises the little skill in regurtitating an essay made up and perfected months in advance. This is not what English is about. BOSTES aim to make English as a HSC exam a more "think on your feet" experience rather than simply writing 3 responses committed to memory.

My view anyway, and that is what the grape vine and various 'in the loop' teachers have said as well. Expect only more of this to come in 2017. Luckily, this was a testing year, so we could still memorise sections. Don't expect to be as lucky next year.

Hmmm well.
Me and our English Class had fun.
Module A: Richard and "LFR" quotes.
What did this have to do with Richard and what did we have to do? Who is Redgrave? What did the quotes have in common or what?
don't even know what I wrote about or how I did.
Module A: Fail
Module B: Speeches
Great a reference to Lessing, i was the one of few who studied it as my main. But 'social change' ?
Module B: Meh
Module C: Brave New World
No quotes that fit the question but easy question though
So Paper 2 = RIP and B.S. it like anything
ended up with only 4 pages each yay.
