In all honesty, I found it pretty standard and I would be highly surprised if the A+ dropped below 36 (definitely not the hardest VCAA exam made and would be slightly harder than the year before, i'd say 36-37/40 would be the cutoff).

Do we think that was a difficult exam?

I think like with any other exam 1, I made a lot of careless mistakes (guessing around 3/4) but the questions weren't tooo bad? So average difficulty I would say.

It was easy to make arithmetic errors in this one, but the knowledge itself was ok.

even better. i did jack all for method all year, got like 15-20/40 on the 2 prac exams i did, and according to solutions and my teacher, i wouldve got like 28+/40 hahaha, so i have to say, this years exam 1 was definitely easy to pick up marks, but very very easy to loose marks; but it wasn't ridiculously hard haha (which exam 1 is the hardest? i know 2013 exam 2 was the hardest exam 2, but what about exam 1)
happy its done!

Agreed, I don't think the questions were particularly difficult but I definitely made a lot of errors in arithmetic due to stress and time pressure

Can someone explain to me how the marking would work?

For the average rate and value question, I legit blanked out and couldn't find cos(-2pi/3) so I left it in my answer. It's 2 and 3 marks, so surely I'll get some marks for method?

And for the inverse q, I swapped x and y's, not k's and x's. Would I still get marks here?

Thanks

What do we think a 27-28/40 would be in terms of grades? Does anyone think it still possible/impossible to achieve a 40+ with such an Exam 1 result regardless of Exam 2? (SACs averaging low to mid A).

Sorry if this has been asked before, but for the average value function, I wrote 2/pi*(-1-(pi/2)) or -2/pi*(1+(pi/2)). I confirmed on CAS I got the correct mathematical value, but when I put the intergal * 2/pi in calc, it gives -(pi+2)/pi, which is the most simplified/neatest(?) answer. Could I still get 3/3 marks for this one? Also for the 1 mark probability , if I put (16/81)^6 rather than (2/3)^24, can I still get the mark?...
