5v4 subjects in VCE

Ok so I’m having a bit of a dilemma regarding my subjects for in Year 12 (2017)
So problem is I wasn’t able to do an advanced 3/4 in 2016 because there was not enough people to run the class or whatever excuse my school came up with so it’s really stuffed up my plans.
This upcoming year I’m doing English, Theatre Studies, Japanese: SL, Global Politics and History: Revolutions. Which would be fine but my teacher for revs is shocking so I’m essentially putting in double the workload just to keep up with the content, so I think it would be better if I dropped that subject and used that time to instead focus on getting really great scores in 4 subjects rather than mediocre scores in 5 subjects. I just like to know if anyone out there has some advice for me or has been in a similar situation.
Thanks in advanced!!

I did 5 subjects this year and 1 last year. Doing more than 4 subjects can be very advantageous - if you mess up your study score in a certain class it will only count for 10% of your ATAR. However, as someone who did Revolutions this year (and I also had a shitty teacher), I will say that this subject has an enormous workload. I was spending nearly double the amount of time on Revs compared to my other subjects.

If you think it will be easier to just focus on 4 subjects, then I would go for that option. Also consider emailing or meeting with your school's careers counsellor and see if they can provide any guidance. Good luck!
2015: Legal Studies [46]
2016: English [44] | Psych [43] | Revolutions [48] | Further [46] | Methods [35]
